- Euro 2008 -

In an exciting tournament, featuring football that was much more positive than that of the 2004 edition, the host countries found themselves unable to progress beyond the group round. Holland, Portugal, and Croatia were all impressive early on, but crashed out in the quater-finals. In the end it was the Spanish that found themselves lifting the Henri Delaunay trophy, after beating Germany 1-0 in the final. Neither England nor any of the other British teams were able to qualify for the tournament.
