- World Cup 1930 -

Thirteen countries took part in the inaugural Football World Cup, held in Uruguay in 1930, as sadly only four European teams were willing to undertake the long boat-journey to South-America that was necessary to participate in the tournament. The hosts ended up clinching the title, after beating Argentina in a final that saw them recovering from being 1-2 behind at half-time to win the match 4-2.
