- World Cup 1958 -

The 1958 FIFA Football World Championship was hosted by Sweden, with England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland uniquely all taking part. The thirteen goals in a single tournament scored by Just Fontaine are a record that will likely never be broken. It was not enough for the French to win the title, as they were eliminated by Brazil in the semi-final, with a young Pelé scoring three goals. In the final hosts Sweden also found themselves unable to prevent a Brazil featuring such greats as Garrincha, Vavá, and Didi from lifting the trophy.
