- World Cup 1970 -

The 1970 FIFA Football World Championship was hosted by Mexico. For the third time in four World Cups, Brazil clinched the title. They did so with a team that many consider to be the best national team the world has ever seen, featuring players like Pelé, Carlos Alberto, Jairzinho, Tostão, Gérson and Rivelino. An emphatic 4-1 victory over Italy in the final capped of a fine display of attacking football. Defending champs England made it to the quater-finals where they lost to Germany in a replay of the 1966 final.
